Like many millennials, Matt and Luke’s story began online. What started as witty flirtation quickly turned into a real-life connection, leading to their first date—and soon after, falling deeply in love. Despite being from two different parts of the world—Matt hails from Sanford, NC, and Luke is from Maracaibo, Venezuela—their bond was immediate. The two, who come from very different cultural backgrounds, were drawn together by a connection that was undeniable.
Their love continues to thrive through their shared hobbies, like playing pickleball and volleyball. These simple activities have become essential to their relationship, reflecting the playful and fun-loving nature they share.

From the vibrant Mandap ceremony on our sun-drenched lawn to an evening reception that transformed our Great Room into a lively, elegant space, this wedding was a true feast for the senses. The couple fully embraced the cultural beauty of a traditional Indian wedding, infusing it with modern elegance and making use of every inch of our venue—from the serene outdoor lawn and patio to the stylish cocktail lounge and bright, spacious Great Room.
As the day transitioned, so did the energy. Guests flowed seamlessly from the ceremony into a relaxed cocktail hour on the patio and lounge, before entering a reimagined reception space where color and light danced together. From festive floral centerpieces to shimmering textiles and dramatic uplighting, the evening was a perfect continuation of the vibrant celebration.

From the moment we stepped into The Maxwell, we knew it was the perfect venue—it took my breath away. The stunning indoor and outdoor spaces matched the exact vision I had for our wedding day. What gave us peace of mind was knowing there was a solid Plan B in case weather didn’t cooperate for our outdoor ceremony. That flexibility allowed us to truly enjoy the planning process stress-free.
Our coordinator, Alex, was incredible! From day one, she was attentive, organized, and deeply invested in making our day perfect. She handled everything with grace and made the entire day flow seamlessly. I truly didn’t worry about a thing knowing Alex had it all covered.
Our wedding was designed to reflect who we are: intimate, intentional, and full of joy. We included a memory table for our loved ones who couldn’t be there, a custom playlist that told our love story, and a unity cross to symbolize our faith. Each detail, from the flowers by Dazel Florals to our carefully curated music, told a part of our journey together.
Favorite memories? There are so many: emotional first looks with my dad, brother, and bridesmaids, our heartfelt dances, and seeing Colin waiting for me at the end of the aisle. That moment made everything real—no nerves, just love.
Our advice? Hire a coordinator, choose a venue with a backup plan, and try to stay ahead of the details. Most importantly, soak it all in. The day goes by fast—celebrate every second with the people you love.

Why They Chose The Maxwell
For this couple, The Maxwell was an easy choice thanks to its spacious indoor and outdoor settings and convenient location just minutes from downtown Raleigh. From the very first tour, they knew they were in good hands with The Maxwell team.
Their Love Story
Joe and his bride met six years ago in a Pittsburgh dive bar, and their journey has since taken them through multiple cities before a romantic Paris proposal overlooking the Eiffel Tower.
The Vision & Design
The couple dreamed of a classic Southern wedding accented with peachy florals, gold touches, oysters, and candlelight. Working closely with Kast & Co. and a talented vendor team, they infused personal details throughout the day, including a custom hand-painted design featured on the bar, napkins, pillows, and décor. Special touches included using Joe’s parents’ claddagh flutes for the champagne toast and an interactive Polaroid guestbook, creating keepsakes they’ll treasure forever.

A top priority for the couple was an unforgettable culinary experience, and Beau Catering delivered with a plated dinner featuring filet mignon, seared grouper, and smoked ratatouille, plus a raw oyster bar and a dreamy four-tier almond cake from Ashley Cakes. Live instrumentalists set the tone during cocktail hour, while a custom 80’s-inspired playlist kept the energy high throughout the night. Their first dance to “I’m With You” by Vance Joy was a highlight, and DJ Cody kept guests dancing well into the evening.
